I currently have my desktop WD external and my passport external plugged into my MacBook Pro, neither will eject. I’ve “quit” all apps, relaunched Finder, logged out/back in, etc. Everything the internet currently suggests, but no luck. I cannot eject either hard drive! When trying to eject in Finder or drag to the trash I get the, “This disk wasn’t ejected because one. Best cad app for mac. Ditto - Time Machine performs periodic backups automatically. Disconnecting negates the purpose of Time Machine. However, you may consider connecting the external drive to a router that has a USB port. This way you can still backup to it using Time Machine without having to continuously disconnect it from your computer. In order to read your drive must be FAT32 for both the Mac and the PC to read it.
After backing up my iMac hard drive to an external hard drive with SuperDuper, I closed SuperDuper and tried to eject the external hard drive so that I could disconnect it from my iMac and connect it to my MBPro.
However, I could not get it to eject after trying it several different ways by the symbol in Finder, by the Finder menu and by the eject button on the keyboard.
I finally turned the external drive power switch off and received the message that it had not been disconnected properly and may have damage data etc..
How can I safely disconnect the drive the next time I mount it?
Thanks for your help.
